Crossing the Atlantic

Left JFK on July 4th around 4:15 pm and were chasing the night.  Not too many toubabs (a descriptive term for white person in Wolof) on the plane except our group of 16 American school teachers.  Arrived in Dakar On July 5th around 4:45 am.  The flight was 8.5 hours. It is very hot and humid even at that hour!  I think the time is 7 hours ahead of mountain time zone.

Welcome to Africa!
